Fruit is best taken in the morning

Fruits are nutritious as it is, but to get the maximum benefits, try the below.

1. Eat only one kind at one time
2. Eat only when hungry
3. Eat in the MORNING.

I always though Papayas, since they remind me of tropical areas, was a very cooling fruit.
Although, I learned through ayurveda, that its properties are heating, and sweet.

They are a natural source of estrogen, and they are perfect for women (especially before menstration).
What's more? They are so tasty.

and remind me of Hawaii...

These are papayas from the philippines:

Home-made chapatis

I never realized how simple chapatis were to make at home.

Of course, I don't use the word easy. Perfected, just-right chapati's are the profession of wives and mothers with years of experience!

But still, a starts a start.

I tried fulka. This is when after you heat one side, the other is put directly on the flame to inflate.
It should be done very quick so that the dough doesn't get to hard!

Recipe:

For about 5-6 chapatis

1. Put 200g of Atta (Whole wheat flour) & 80 ml water in a bowl and knead until earlobe softness.
2. Create a ball and cover with a cloth. Leave for 30 min.
3. Divide the whole into 6 parts.
4. Roll into a ball, apply dry flour on the surroundings.
5. Use a bread roller to smooth it out into a circle to the thiness you prefer.
6. Heat one side on the pan until you see a couple of "bumps", flip over.
7. Put the pan aside and place the chapati on the flame. (Use stainless tools, not your hands!)

Cold.

Feeling the sore throat and heaviness.

It's the real thing.

Best thing to do is to get some rest, and easy to digest foods for meals.

Feeling hungry for some warming sweets at 3pm.

Here's the perfect treat.

All you need is a ripe apple and cinnamon.

Recipe:

1. Cut apples and put in a pan
2. Add water (up to half way of the apples) and cook until apples are soft.
3. Add cinnamon powder (as much as you please) and stir.
*A touch of cardamon in addition is delicious too!

Raisins are tasty too to pop in if you have some in hand!

turmeric milk for a sore throat

I got back from India just two days ago. Meaning I just warped from 30 degree climate, to a horrifying 5 degree environment.

Its freezing!

Spending Christmas with family and all the talking I did about my travels, unpacking, finishing up laundry and tidy-ing up my room---the fatigue from traveling on cars and airplane and trains...

my daily cycle is definitely not quite stable yet.

This means my body needs time to just chill out and get adapted.

I woke up with a sore throat.

So, immediately I turned to my Ayurvedic remedies and whipped up some "turmeric milk" to start my breakfast.

Recipe:

one cup of fresh cow's milk
two teaspoons of turmeric powder

1. heat in pan and wait for it to boil
2. turn the heat off pour into your favorite cup

The yellow color and the rich milk makes it look like some creamy soup. And is quite warming and tasty.

Turmeric is used for numerous remedies of various disorders,
including skin disease (enhance skin complexion!), detoxify the liver, balance cholestral levels, fight allergies, stimulate digestion, and boost immunity.
