Cold relievers.

My cold is better, as I've been trying to get to bed early and get a good sleep.

In the morning, I wake up to Surya Namaskars (Sun salutation) and yoga, followed by a quick abhyanga (oil application) and bath.

One thing I haven't been able to do: is wake up early. I always feel the dull heaviness of Kapha in the morning. This is something I need to add to my resolution list! (waking up before sunrise...)

Some goodies from India that have been supportive during my cold which I highly recommend!

1. Daily triphala powder (morning & night time) steeped in hotwater for 5 minutes.
2. Tulsi tea (organic) in plain and ginger.
Triphala is one of the most revered herbs in Ayurveda. The Tri (Three) Phala (Fruits) are
a) Amalaki (Amla), The indian gooseberry strengthens the immune system and cools the body.
→pacifies Pitta
b) Haritaki, has astringent properties and is laxative
→pacifies Vata
c) Bhibitaki, has astringent properties, laxative and removes excess mucus
→pacifies Kapha

It balances all doshas, and not only cleanses the body, but gives nutrition to all layers of the body.

They say, "You don't have a mom? Its okay, as long as you have Triphala!"

Then comes Tulsi, the holy basil, which supports you to:
adapt to the stressors, whether they may be mental, emotional, environmental, or physical. They work on the individual, on what they need at the moment- stress reliever, cold and flu relief, immune strengthener etc...

Thank you wonders of Ayurveda!
